SUMMARY:Helping Save Lives Using the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scales
DESCRIPTION:The Columbia Protocol\, also known as the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS)\, supports suicide risk assessment through a series of simple\, plain-language questions that anyone can ask. The answers help users identify whether someone is at risk for suicide\, assess the severity and immediacy of that risk\, and gauge the level of support that the person needs. Users of the tool ask people: \n• Whether and when they have thought about suicide (ideation) \n• What actions they have taken — and when — to prepare for suicide \n• Whether and when they attempted suicide or began a suicide attempt that was either interrupted by another person or stopped of their own volition \nThis webinar will provide an introduction to the CSSRS as a screening tool for suicide prevention.

SUMMARY:Suicide Awareness for the Agricultural Community
DESCRIPTION:Despite farmers’ foundational role in the food system\, agriculture consistently ranks among occupations with very high suicide rates. Farming can be isolating\, physically and mentally demanding\, and full of potentially devastating uncertainty. Farms are often in rural areas where healthcare access is limited and mental health support nearly nonexistent. It is vital that farmers\, community members\, mental health professionals\, and others know the factors that lead to suicide risk and poor mental health outcomes among farmers\, the resources that exist to address this problem\, and what individuals can do to support farmer safety and well-being. \nDuring this webinar\, Farm First will share significant causes of stress and anxiety in the agricultural community\, signs that a person is in trouble\, and how to support someone who may be at risk of suicide. We will focus on why this population is especially vulnerable and offer some statistics and examples. \nWho Should Attend? \nAll Professionals and individuals interested in learning more about how to support the Farming community. \nObjectives: \n\nIdentify protective factors\, risk factors\, and warning signs of suicide in the agricultural community\nUnderstand unique challenges and vulnerabilities among the farming population\nList available resources and have access to printed material\nDescribe an effective strategy to talk with someone who is at risk of suicide\nKnow where to find more information and support\n\nRegister today.
