SUMMARY:QPR- Question\, Persuade Refer
DESCRIPTION:Would you give 90 minutes to save a life? NKHS offers QPR introduction to suicide training for adults and caretakers to raise awareness\, dispel myths and misconceptions\, and teach three skills that can help save a life. A QPR trainee will learn to recognize the warning signs of suicide\, how to offer hope\, and how to get help. \nQPR is an emergency response to someone in a suicide crisis just as CPR is an emergency response to a physical health crisis. \nWe invite you to register for QPR Suicide Prevention Awareness Training via Zoom. This training is interactive. There is no cost for the training and resource materials for participants thanks to support from Vermont Department of Health.

SUMMARY:Ethical Reporting on Suicide Saves Lives
DESCRIPTION:Reporting attracts people who want to make a difference\, but with a topic as nuanced as suicide\, how we communicate truly matters. Research shows that responsible\, ethical reporting can reduce risk\, encourage help-seeking\, and save lives. \nJoin the Vermont Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for a presentation and discussion led by David O’Leary\, a longtime AFSP leader and Boston broadcaster of nearly 40 years. He brings both professional expertise and personal passion to helping shape safe\, thoughtful conversations about mental health. \nIn this virtual session\, you’ll gain practical guidance on reporting with care\, using safe language\, avoiding harmful details\, and centering hope\, recovery\, and prevention. Together\, we can ensure our words support those who may be struggling and help strengthen our communities. \nSuggested Audience: Vermont communications and media professionals\, content creators\, spokespeople\, information officers\, and press liaisons for government agencies.
