Using Location Analysis to Inform Community Suicide Prevention Strategies
August 12 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Understanding the locations where suicide deaths and attempts occur is an important component of a comprehensive suicide prevention approach. In this webinar, Dr. Kimberly Repp, Chief Epidemiologist for Washington County, Oregon, will review innovative data-driven prevention efforts that were implemented in her county using a novel suicide surveillance system and suicide fatality review process. Dr. Repp will describe how this novel analysis led to different mitigation and prevention strategies, including outreach and training for hotel staff where suicides had occurred. The Department of Health will also provide a brief overview of location-specific data analysis and trends in Vermont. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions for discussion.
