This virtual training will use didactics to briefly review the core concepts of motivational interviewing (MI) and explore the evidence and applicability of MI for addressing suicidal thinking in diverse clinical settings. Throughout the training, the trainer will ask for audience participation in providing real-world scenarios where MI could be applicable and demonstrate specific MI techniques for assessing and managing suicidal thinking in those opportunities.
Participants will learn to apply motivational interviewing techniques for conducting suicide risk assessment, navigating sustain/change talk, and providing brief interventions.
